Helene Jewell, a professional Facilitator and entrepreneur, talks about how she works with creative teams with diverse and sometimes competing ideas to work together towards defining a strategy that enables them to move forward. She shares what she loves about her work and how she nurtures that enthusiasm and finally gives a top tip to leaders.
About Helene:
Helene is a professional facilitator who draws on her knowledge and experience of communication processes and group dynamics to encourage effective and meaningful dialogue, enabling positive change and good team collaboration. She successfully integrates an ability to work with people to share their thoughts and ideas, with her capacity to develop, organise and prioritise information to achieve robust outcomes.
She started her professional life as a Speech and Language Therapist, a job that took her overseas to Nepal and eventually lead to a Msc in International Development. She has worked for a number of different organisations in different roles across different sectors, both in the UK and overseas. She established Jewell Facilitation in 2013 after realising that she very much wanted to do her own thing and that her passion for facilitation didn’t quite fit into any job descriptions!
She uses a creative style of facilitation both face to face and in the virtual space. She is currently focused on helping teams develop their purpose and values, trust and relationships as well as their communication processes and ways of working through facilitated team development sessions. She also facilitates strategic planning workshops, lessons learnt reviews and a variety of other workshops with internal and external stakeholders.
She is on the board of the England and Wales International Association of Facilitators (IAF) and an RSA fellow, mum to two children, an outdoors swimming enthusiast, would be traveller and a big fan of doing things slightly differently!
