Abby knew she wanted to do Brazilian jiu-jitsu to be able to defend herself if a dangerous situation ever happened. The problem was that she didn't have the money to join the classes.
However, she worked her way up: if she couldn't do what she wanted/needed to do, she would do SOMETHING that would get her closer to that end goal.
Nowadays, many people are looking for a 100% improvement, or they are not even gonna try. If you can't achieve what you want, most people won't even bother.
