Description

Dr. Bernadette Boden-Albala is the Director and Founding Dean of the Program in Public Health in the Susan and Henry Samueli College of Health Sciences at University of California, Irvine, where she is also a Professor of Population Health and Disease Prevention and Epidemiology.

As the Director and Founding Dean of the UCI Program in Public Health, 

Dean Boden-Albala is an internationally recognized expert in the social epidemiology of stroke and cardiovascular disease. She is a member of a statewide panel of experts that inform California’s public health response on the COVID-19 pandemic, and is collaborating with the Orange County Health Authority and UCI faculty on COVID-19 studies to help further the understanding of the virus and its impact on the region. Dr. Boden-Albala is advising local businesses on re-opening strategies and is working with Public Health faculty on a population-wide surveillance of
COVID-19 antibodies in Orange County, and a surveillance project with healthcare workers. She was named Community Hero by the Greater Irvine Chamber in May 2020 for her efforts.
