In this episode, Superintendent Matsuda interviews South Junior High School and Cambridge Virtual Academy history teacher and instructional coach Dr. Jeff Kim, NBCT. Dr. Kim has been working in schools for the past 19 years and has served in many roles including induction support provider, department chair, administration, instructional coach, and civic lead. He is currently teaching in the Anaheim Union High School District at South Junior High School and the online Cambridge Virtual Academy as a History teacher and also serves as the 5Cs Instructional Coach. Under his leadership, his school has earned the Civic Learning Award of Excellence through the Judicial Council, PAL Outstanding Program of Year and Advisor awards from Orange County Department of Education, Bridges Distinguished School Award from OC Human Relations, and the California Democracy Accreditation. Dr. Kim also continues to serve as both master teacher and as part-time lecturer at Cal State University, Fullerton where he is training up the next generation of teachers. Dr. Kim earned his Educational Doctorate in Educational Leadership with an emphasis in Teacher Education in Multicultural Societies at the University of Southern California and is a National Board Certified Teacher. He has been married to his wife Dr. Stephanie Kim for 19 years and together they have five children.
