The small Ionian colonies of the Eastern Aegean Sea were swallowed up by the mighty Achaemenid Empire. When the city of Athens helped organize the Ionian Revolts, it brought the entire wrath of the Persian Empire. Xerxes assembled the entire Persian Empire and marched them across the Bosphorus to burn Athens to the ground.

The History of Modern Greece covers the events of the Greek People from the fall of Constantinople in 1453 to the Greek War of Independence in 1821-1832, all the way through to the Greco-Turkish War from 1919 to 1922.
