Matthew and Kyle are on the pod today sharing core tenants to turning action into habit.
Topic shaping:
-Excellence is a state of mind, a feeling that you are living in alignment with the person you want to be. Habitual action toward your goals is what creates excellence in the mind.
-Determine the actions you want to turn into habits (what do you want to improve? Who do you want to be? What does that look like?)
-Going from 0 to 1. To turn something into a habit, introduce it into your life. Become aware of it, begin to implement here and there, don't dive into an all or nothing situation for yourself, you'll burn out quickly. Examples: eating clean, meditating, waking up early, new workout routine etc.
-Determine the frequency and stick to it: Once you've become familiar with the action, challenge yourself to stick with it on a habitual basis. Whether it's every day or once a week, create some level of regiment around it so it starts to feel like a goal.
-Give the action a chance to become a habit: The wavelength of turning something difficult into a habit is that it always gets shitty before you start to see the benefit. Stick through it past that point, force yourself to at first. Value your commitment by giving the action a proper chance to turn into a habit.
