Still studying the Kingdom of God, I have stated that most people have never heard a sermon on the Kingdom. Before this series, I can’t remember ever hearing or giving a lesson on the kingdom of God/heaven. But after you see it in the Bible you discover that this is the subject of virtually every sermon in the Bible; it is on every page of the New Testament. It is mentioned no less than 87 times in the N.T. This is huge!

Likewise, we rarely hear anything about God the Father. Jesus is the gospel and should be preached in every sermon. The Holy Spirit is getting some attention these days, but the Father is still absent from our thinking and learning. And yet, He is mentioned 261 times in the N.T., not counting the many other times He is mentioned as God without saying the word Father, like John 3:16.

The Father is everywhere in the N.T. Everything good comes from the Father (Jas.1:17). Even Jesus came from the Father. “The Father who sent Me” is said by Jesus many times just in the book of John. When Jesus came as a man, He was the exact likeness of the Father, just like Adam had been (Gen.1:26; Col.1:15; Heb.1:1-3). All the gracious words of Jesus were given to Him by the Father, “The words I speak are not Mine but the Father who sent Me.” (Jn.14:14) Everything Jesus did, all His works, were the works of the Father (Jn.5:19-20). He revealed the Father (Jn.1:18). If you want to see what God is like just look at Jesus (Jn.14:8-10; Jn.1:14,17). He is the fullness of God in a human body! (Col.2:9)

The question for the ages: WHY DID THE FATHER PUT PEOPLE THROUGH ALL THAT JUDGMENT IN THE OLD TESTAMENT BEFORE HE SENT JESUS? We’re talking 4,000 years from Adam to Jesus! Why’d He take so long?
