The Church is Jesus Christ
“Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?”
I am fully aware of the fact that most people do not believe what is stated in this title; some will never believe it no matter how much they see it in the Bible. That’s because they don’t want to believe it, and that’s just because it will make the church a priority they don’t want in their lives. Even though Jesus gave it that priority for Himself: He loved the church and gave up His life for her.
Just make sure you fully believe what the Bible says, because this is important and it will affect your whole life. If I can show you this truth in the Bible, would you believe that the church is Jesus? If I could show you where Jesus said the church and Jesus are the same, would you believe it then? (John 8:45-47)
Here’s a line of thought that most people have accepted without even considering if it is true or not; it goes virtually unchallenged in our day. It has to do with priorities. You have probably been recommended a list of priorities something like the following and accepted it; after all it is comfortable and easy.
1. Jesus Christ
2. My Family
3. My Job
4. The Church, and then whatever you want after this.
Here’s the error of this list. Jesus never intended for you to separate #1 and #4. In God’s mind and word there is no distinction between Christ and His church. It’s not that any of us died on the cross for the sins of the world. Only Jesus did that. But the Holy Spirit put us in Him and what happened to Him happened to us: we were circumcised with Him, baptized with Him, crucified with Him, raised with Him, and now sit in heavenly places with Him. We are one in the sense we were in Him when He died and rose again. We are in Him and He is in us. We are one.
