Praise is not powerful. We need to be careful substituting something we do for God. People say that prayer changes things. No, God answers prayer and so He uses prayer to change things. Prayer is not an entity in itself that accomplishes things. God uses prayer. It’s the same with praise. Praise is powerless, but it is a weapon and tool God uses in a powerful way in our lives. Praise is not powerful; God is powerful. We don’t simply go through the mechanics of singing praise words and then expect God to do for us what He did for Judah when the three enemy armies came against them. We must do what they did: they came to God, prayed, heard from God, marched into battle with praise, and God delivered them. God is powerful, but He uses praise in a powerful way. That’s why I say that praise is powerful, because God uses it in a powerful way.
There is such a thing as an evil day, as stated in Ephesians 6:10-18. Living in a sinful fallen world every day has its share of evil; but some days are especially bad in that we are attacked in unusual ways. When the enemy attacks with a frontal assault, that is the evil day. For this we need the armor of God in order to remain strong and stand against his evil assaults. He is always lurking about, seeking strategies and wiles to get the advantage over us, and when he does he will attack at our most vulnerable times and areas. It is interesting that Ephesians may be easily outlined with these words: Our Wealth, Our Walk, and Our Warfare, each in the proper order. We are wealthy beyond measure because we have been blessed with every spiritual blessing in Christ (Eph.1-3). We have a walk of peace, unity and power (Eph.4-5). But neither of those exempt us from the attacks of the principalities and powers of darkness. In fact, they are the very reason they assault us: we are so wealthy and living in peace, and they simply cannot have that because it so glorifies God...
