Two Great Mysteries
(Ephesians Chapter Three)
Everybody loves a great mystery. So does God. In the Bible there are many mysteries. A mystery is something you wouldn’t know unless God told you. He does this by the Holy Spirit, who Himself is a mystery. Jesus Christ is a mystery. We wouldn’t know who Jesus was if God did not reveal it. Peter said, “You are the Christ, Son of the living God.” And Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven.” (Matthew 16:13-17) We might think Jesus was a great man, even a great man of God, a prophet or something; but we would not know He was the Son of God. We wouldn’t know He was dying for the sins of mankind or that He rose from the dead unless the Spirit revealed these things. He first revealed them to the writers of the Bible and then to our spirit.
There are two mysteries revealed in this chapter: the mystery of the church and the spirit of man.
