What it Means to be a Christian
“And the disciples were first called Christians at Antioch.” (Acts 11:26)
Ideas of what it means to be a Christian range from the extremely limited to the exceedingly and ridiculously broad. Some people have such narrow-minded views that heaven must necessarily be a scarcely populated place. One denomination believes that you must be baptized in water in Jesus’ name only, speak in tongues, wear certain kinds of clothing, tithe and do good works the rest of your life. Oh, and use the King James Version of the Bible. Still others are so broad in their interpretation of what it means to be a Christian that it basically comes down to just do the best you can. (Nobody ever does the best he can.) Just be a good person and you are a Christian. This is patently absurd and is counter to everything in the Bible. Yet multitudes believe this. Some may even add water baptism or other rituals that allow a person to live in sin and never repent and still be a Christian and make it to heaven when they die.
But God is not that narrow-minded or open-minded. Truth is never open-minded. We must look at the Bible to see what it means to be a Christian; not at what others say, or how we feel about it. God wrote a book and in that book He tells us who they are who are right with Him and who are not. We must go by the Bible or we have no source of authority for what we believe. God would never want something so important as this to be left up to our own ideas or the opinions of others. It is He who wrote, “These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you might know that you have eternal life…” (1John5:13) God wants us to know and that knowledge is found only in the Holy Bible. So, we will use the Bible as our inspired source to determine what it means to be a Christian... to read more click on the following link... http://www.gracehouseclinton.com/2020/04/what-it-means-to-be-a-christian
