Veterans In Politics Episode 8 with Sir Julian Brazier TD
Sir Julian lost his beloved Canterbury seat to Rosie Duffield MP on a shock results night during the snap general election of 2017. He'd been an MP for 30 years, and at one stage, was our host's local MP when Jonny resided at Howe Barracks, Canterbury with 1PWRR!
In this episode, Sir Julian explains some of the reasons behind that political earthquake, and leads us on a political tour in this conversation that covers a number of administrations and several decades. It is fascinating to listen to!
He also served in the armed forces for 13 years, and perhaps is best well-known for his service in the SAS Reserves. Like many former military MPs, he has been on the Defence Select Committee, but it is his role as Minister for the Reserves that our host Jonny remembers fondly, having worked at the MOD at that same time. Sir Julian also gives us his commentary about how reserve service has changed during his lifetime.
We'd like to thank Sir Julian for the generosity of his time. He has been a keen supporter of CampaignForce CIC from the off, and is a friend of all reservists, a endeavour his remains a keen supporter of in political retirement.
This episode is very interesting. And one that you do not want to miss.
