This week I was saddened by the suicide and death of tWitch, who was a DJ on The Ellen Show as well as many other platforms. I am finding it very difficult to process this. My heart hurts for what he must have been going through and what his family is now living.
Mental health NEEDS to be just as supported as physical health! He is the perfect example, someone who filled a room with his smile and unique personality. I would have never suspected he was dealing with such dark thoughts.
That goes to show us, that it can be anyone. Literally ANYONE! When you are experiencing such negative and detrimental thoughts, you think that you are a burden to your family and they will be better off without you. You think that you are saving them from the weight of being mentally unhealthy.
My hearts goes out to all that have experienced dark thoughts, to all the families that are effected by mental health, including myself.
We have a new system that will allow you to reach out with just 3 numbers. When you need help, call 988. Any any level of what you are experiencing, what you consider, big or small, is enough.
Through the lens of someone who has been dealing with mental health issues, the best way you can help is to make yourself available to talk, to confide in. If we can post on our pages, #imhereifyouneedme
