In this episode, Dr. Aaron Liddell is here to discuss a few real-world closed claim anesthesia cases with the aim of understanding where things went wrong and what could possibly have been done differently to facilitate a more positive outcome. At the end of the day, so many of the issues that occur during operations are due to poor patient selection. After listening to this conversation, you will be more inclined to think twice before sedating someone, and as Aaron makes very clear, choosing not to operate doesn’t make you any less of a surgeon! It took a lot of blood, sweat, and tears to get the hospital privileges that oral surgeons have today, and now that those privileges are under threat, it makes it all the more imperative that we are as prudent as possible when it comes to administering anesthesia.
