I'm carrying on using Garageband - although I could break out Logic Pro.
At least now I've worked out how to get the voice to come out of the middle instead of the left hand channel. The ducking of the sound is maybe an imperfect science at the moment.
To fix the left hand channel, just record it as mono.
I'm using track automation for ducking at the moment. I'd prefer to find something that can autoduck.
