Let's talk a little bit about training in the off season, or practicing for the big day. If you've ever played sports, competed or performed in anything you know that there is a period where you're practicing over and over again for the big day so you know you'll be ready when you need to be.

The thing is, when we're talking about managing stress and building resilience, every  day is the big day. You face stressors every single day. To make the change from reactive to proactive you've got to practice developing the tools and cultivating the internal environment you want to have when it's time for your nervous system to respond. You want to train the response you desire.

This means you're going to be practicing and feeling like it's not doing anything or like you don't need to be building the tools because you don't need them right now... what happens when you do need them and you haven't built the habits and routines that you need to help you manage and cope with the big stressors that show up along with the daily stressors?

It's all about practicing in the off season, creating the headspace, the habits, and the patterns that will bring us into a new baseline and build resilience for when we need it.

Get in there and give it a listen
