English teacher Jarrin Williams and host Evelyn Lauer discuss the chaos of hybrid/blended learning, technology as a form of engagement, and the difficulty of building relationships when both students and teacher are wearing masks.
Williams teaches freshman English at Rock Island High School in northwestern Illinois. This is his twentieth year in the classroom, having taught in Minnesota, Iowa, and Illinois. He has a bachelor’s degree in Speech Communication with a specialization in Public Relations and minor in Journalism from SIUC (1994) and a bachelor’s degree in English Education from WIU (2001). Williams has also coached track and field for 24 years and has just completed his fourth year as head boys’ cross country running coach at RIHS.
