Saint Longinus the Centurion was present during the crucifixion of Christ. He was the soldier who pierced Christ's side with a spear, and who proclaimed after Christ's death that "truly he was the Son of God". Tradition holds that he converted to Christianity afterward, and died a martyr. We read from the gospel passages about Saint Longinus, his entry in the "Golden Legend", and an excerpt of a blog post about Saint Longinus by Father Andrew Stephen Damick (the full blog post is here: https://blogs.ancientfaith.com/asd/2016/10/16/truly-son-god/)
