On the very first Resurrection Sunday, two heartbroken disciples walked away from Jerusalem and into the arms of the risen Christ. As they traveled the dusty road to Emmaus, Jesus met them, opened the Scriptures to them, and revealed a promise that still stands: that through life and death, God brings his people into joy forever.
“O foolish ones, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken! Was it not necessary that the Christ should suffer these things and enter into his glory?” And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he interpreted to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning himself. Luke 24:25-27
The law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul… More to be desired are they than gold, even much fine gold; sweeter than honey are drippings of the honeycomb. Moreover, by them is your servant warned; in keeping them there is great reward. Psalm 19:7a, 10-11
If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you. Romans 8:11
