Pastor Matt continues our sermon series in the Gospel of Mark, looking at Mark 6:14-29.

For the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. - 1 Corinthians 1:18 

Indeed, all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, 
- 2 Timothy 3:12 

“Come now, you who say, ‘Today or tomorrow we will go into such and such a town and spend a year there and trade and make a profit’ - yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes. Instead you ought to say, ‘If the Lord wills, we will live and do this or that.’” - James 4:13-15 

How do I walk in obedience to God in the midst of everyday life in a broken world? 

1. I have a deep trust in Christ (Philippians 1:19). 
2. My greatest fear in life is that I don’t want to shame Christ (Philippians 1:20) 
3. I can trust in Christ because in Him I have a very certain future (Philippians 1:22-26). 

How do I pray in light of our time together today?

• I pray that while God has me in this world, I am not of this world (John 17:15-16).
• I pray that I don’t go to work, but that I go to work with God.
• I pray that I move with integrity and honor God in my work ethic.
• I pray for wisdom in how to use the resources that God has given me for His glory.
• I pray open handed with my life, and the lives of my loved ones.
