This week's episode is a ride. We speak about one of my favourite topics - shame! Shame is an incredibly inhibiting - and human - force. It tells us that we are not good enough, that we are fundamentally bad in some way and that we are not worthy of love and connection because of some aspect of who we are. As a result, we stifle ourselves and disconnect from important parts of our being because we fear that they will not be accepted. Shame is a protective strategy that evolved in our brains out of a fear of being disconnected from our communities and this is why it feels so compelling, because the fear of disconnection from the people around us goes deep in our species. However, the systems of power-over and domination that have weaved their way through our world (read: patriarchy, colonization, and capitalism) have recognized how they are able to use this human instinct to keep us oppressed, disembodied and disconnected from our true selves. This episode is an exploration of shame, and decolonization, and how we can begin to find greater levels of freedom by seeing into the shame matrix and reclaiming our power.
