In Nov 2020,  21-year-old Nangonhs-Ba Massey had just moved into a new apartment with her 2-year-old son. While Massey hosted a party for a friend, 20-year-old Kaden Gilbert stabbed Massey and a male friend on video. Massey and her friend are both indigenous and the crime takes place on native land, so the case ended up in Federal court.
