Wendy interviews Sara as she puts on both her Health Coaching hat and opens up personally for this episode. We take a dive into the concept of Intuitive Eating, where how we eat is just important as what we eat and making peace with food and body image.

Sara talks about her personal journey with emotional eating and how starting as a teenager she was conditioned to measure weight loss, body size, and what she was eating. Also learning what's nourishing for me may not be nourishing for you, no one-size fits all.  Listen to the wisdom within.

 Introduction to intuitive eating and anti-diet.

Evelyn Tribole and Elyse Resch, the originators of the ground-breaking book Intuitive Eating. They introduced us to 10 principles:

  1. Reject the Diet Mentality
  2. Honor Your Hunger
  3. Make Peace with Food
  4. Challenge the Food Police
  5. Discover the Satisfaction Factor
  6. Feel Your Fullness
  7. Cope with Your Emotions with Kindness
  8. Respect Your Body
  9. Movement—Feel the Difference
  10. Honor Your Health—Gentle Nutrition

Sara's personal tips to start right now:

1. Make one small change vs trying to attempt to get to your goal right away.  For example, if you want to add more green veggies to your plate, start with one meal a day with broccoli for 2 weeks.
2.  Recognize what's the driving force between what you do, how you think, and regulate. Create helpful language about your body and mind.  Be Kind!
