Dr. Agnes Binagwaho did the unimaginable and returned to her home country of Rwanda just 2 years after the mass genocide of one million Tutsis. An outsider in her home country, Dr. Binagwaho worked tirelessly to save lives and was eventually appointed Minister of Health. A pediatrician by training, she has spent the past 25 years rebuilding the Rwandan health care system from the ground up, ultimately achieving some of the highest rates of pediatric vaccinations anywhere in the world. One of the only women at the table, Dr. Binagwaho shares her story of innovation and social service, how she's shifting her focus to transform gender equity in global health education.
