Today’s Agenda…
1) Military Conflict w/ North Korea?: Kim Jung Un has test fired several short range ballistic missiles since Joe Biden became President. Is this just typical of NK, to test the reaction of a new President? Wall Street Journal suggest that 'detente' may be the best option in dealing w/ today's NK. What do you think?
2) US Troops Pull Out of Afghanistan?: The deal negotiated by Trump's special envoy and the Taliban in Doha, Oman was that we could pull all US troops out by May 1, 2021. That isn't going to happen. Biden said he wants them out but that they won't be gone by May 1st. What is holding this up?
3) Trial of Top Terrorist Khalid Sheikh Mohammed at GITMO: Khalid Sheikh Mohammed (KSM) has been held captive since 2003, first in dark site prisons, and later since 2006 in Guantanamo Cuba---on US territory under lease from Castro. He is being tried by a US military commission for his key role in the 9/11 terror attack at World Trade Center. Why has the trial taken 15 yrs to start? What does it say about US Justice system? Should Biden just shut down GITMO?
