7 Causes Of Cognitive Distortion
- All-or-nothing thinking: This involves thinking in absolute terms, such as "I either succeed or fail, there's no middle ground."
- Overgeneralization: This is when you draw broad conclusions based on one or two experiences.
- Mental Filter: This is when you focus on the negative and ignore the positive.
- Disqualifying the Positive: This is when you dismiss positive experiences or accomplishments as unimportant.
- Mind Reading: This is when you assume you know what others are thinking without any evidence.
- Fortune Telling: This is when you predict a negative outcome without evidence.
- Magnification (Catastrophizing) or Minimization: This is when you either blow things out of proportion or shrink their importance.
