In this 4-part series, we will be going deep into different types of fears, where they come from, what they look like and how can we overcome them.

In this first episode we're speaking about the Fear of the Unknown. This fear commonly shows up when we're considering trying something new or when we're faced with an alternative that is outside of our comfort zone. This fear creeps in during these moments to keep us safe and to remind us that we're "better off" staying in the zone of the "known" if we want to make it as likely as possible that we will remain "safe". Naturally in today's day and age, few of the "riskier" decisions we are making actually make us "unsafe", they simply lead us to something else, something new, something unknown. 

In this episode I go through 6 reflections I recommend you go through if you think this is something you're currently struggling with: 

  1. Allow separation between you and the fear. Instead of "I am afraid" try to notice the fear of the unknown "creeping into your mind" or "making its way into your thoughts. 
  2. Ask: why is this fear entering my mind? What is it trying to save me from?
  3. Render the unknown, known. If you were to overcome this fear and step into the unknown, what would the "worst" and "best" case look like?
  4. Ask: what if you listened to the fear and stayed in your comfort zone? What would that look like in the long run? Imagine that...
  5. Are you moving towards or awayIs this thing you're afraid of... is it an energy pulling you towards or are you feeling a sense of moving away?
  6. What do you know you need to do? We always know exactly what we should be doing...
