Description

Gary Kirsten is one of the greatest batsmen South Africa has ever produced. He was the first cricketer to play 100 tests and scored 21 test centuries, with a high score of 275. He played 185 ODI, achieved 13 centuries and held the record for highest ODI score of 188 not out.

As a batsman he had the ability to concentrate for long periods. He was one of the most organised batsman to play for South Africa, Calm and level-headed.

In 2007 was appointed coach of India, his low-profile approach to the job was appreciated by the players. He took India to No. 1 in the test rankings and World Cup Champions in 2011. As coach of South Africa, he also helped the Proteas to No. 1 Test team in the world.
