Description

Self-Identifying with Disability Services is a student's first step towards getting accommodations in college, so disclosing a disability correctly becomes especially important.  This episode explains to both the parent and the young adult how everything will change once the student becomes 18 and the parent steps back so the child can take on their adult responsibilities.  You will learn the best way to self-identify, and the wrong ways to self-identify, how to disclose formally to Disability Services and informally to your professors.  You will learn how to access the Family Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) information, and how your privacy and confidentiality is protected.  See the FERPA links below for additional information.
