Happy New Year to all of our beloved Wild Things!
The new 2021 NHL Season starts January, 13th 2021, so it's not exactly a coincidence that The Wildcards made a point to get together just after the turn of the year to discuss which teams might look more prepared to overtake their competition come opening day.
What they didn't expect was that they would be sitting down to record their thickest, fattest, most over-encumbered episode to date!
Hockey fans will celebrate the returns of hardcore Hockey heralders Daniel Harrow and Robben Stever, who couldn't wait to smooth out the significant schedule changes, divisional shakeups, and unpredictable nature of pandemic hockey as this season dawns. Dan's knowledge of his favorite sport never ceases to impress his peers, while Robben's stone-cold sarcasm, bubbly enthusiasm, and veritable catalogue of hockey facts certainly holds his audience.
Joining the Hockey Talk tangle for their very first time is "The Joker" of The Wildcards, Dillon Rodriguez! Though he's more comfortable with his Basketball knowledge, Dillon has enough experience watching hockey to be able to bridge the gap between hockey fanatics and more casual fans. In this presentation, he often surprises even himself with the cutting questions he conjures on the fly.
Holding this whole rink-think endeavor together is the "Heart" of The Wildcards, Warren Sprague. Whether it's tripping over his own self awareness or attempting to board whichever bandwagon draws nearest, Warren brings as much energy and fluidity as he can to this recording.
Which teams are poised to outplay their opposition? Which individual players will leave the shortened 2021 season with some significant hardware? And certainly The Wildcards will be bold enough to sling a bet or two across the table in good fun as they flail their opinions organically?
All these questions are ready to be answered in this informative, funny, and fully-pucked podcast of palatial proportions!
