Recorded January 31th, 2021
There comes a time in every Wildcard's life that they must call the bluff, lay all the cards on the table, and pray they don't get washed out on the River.
That time arrived for Wildcard Warren Sprague when he checked his hand of upcoming potential podcast topics back at the beginning of the year... and remembered that the 2021 WWE Royal Rumble was quickly approaching.
A lifelong professional wrestling fan before he even knew what it was called, Warren pitched to the rest of the Deck the idea of introducing them all to a turbulent world of physical theater that no one Wildcard could truly be ready for.
With most of the Wildcards spending the night of the event taking inventory and counting their losses, it was James Koch who answered the call to experience exposure to what Warren claimed to be "the most entertaining evening of wrestling of the whole calendar year".
James had no idea what Warren was Koching...
With a passion for pro-wrestling reminiscent of James' love for action sports, Warren couldn't wait to educate his casting cohort about the moments, maneuvers, and mat performers that make the Royal Rumble - and the industry in general - so special.
To aid in the cause, Warren brought in former co-caster and good friend Samuel Tate, who makes his first - and most likely not his last - appearance as a Wildcard contributor on this episode!
Also providing more punch to the pro-wrestling prose is Casino Floor alumni Tiffany Hendrix, whose unique status as "woman who tolerates wrestling" makes her an especially fascinating listen.
Join this unlikely four-corners of conversation as they step between the ropes and react to the Rumble itself, but not before priming James and Tiffany for the most must-watch wrestling event of the season!
What wacky way was Warren introduced to the world of pro-wrestling? What act of supposed suicide enticed Sam Tate to stay tuned to "Sports Entertainment"? Which cultures around the world are catching on to the trend? Would James and Tiffany come away with an understanding of the artform's entertainment value, or would Sam and Warren once again find themselves alone in the "squared-circle" (or is it "circle of squares") that is wrestling fandom?
