The fallout continues over the recent announcement by UnitedHealthcare (UHC) that it would not use Sepsis-3 when reviewing claims to validate sepsis for payment from providers in the Empire State. New York state law defines sepsis with systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS) criteria, otherwise known as Sepsis-2.
