Today, I welcome Jared Altic to the podcast, and he joins me from his hometown of Kansas City, Kansas.
Jared is a husband, father of five, Bible teacher, Police Chaplain, and podcaster. He has 25 years of experience serving and counseling military and law enforcement families. In addition, he works as a minister and volunteers his time as a police chaplain at the local police department. He is a man of God, and he has dedicated his life so selflessly to stand in service of others. He is an inspiration to so many.
In this episode, I ask the question, “what is a police chaplain?” First, Jared explains that a chaplain is a priest or a pastor attached to an organization such as a hospital or the police department. Then, Jared provides the listeners with a front-row seat to a day in the life of a police chaplain. He explains that a chaplain gets called out to unattended deaths, which means homicides, suicides, accidents, and natural deaths without doctor or hospice care. A chaplain also makes death notifications, and a chaplain builds relationships with the officers by being present as they serve their community.
Jared is authoritative yet kind, focused, compassionate, grounded, helpful, and easy to talk to. It was a pleasure to have him join me on the podcast. This episode was insightful and opened a whole new world of knowledge for me. So get ready because this episode is a must-listen.
