Sophie always wanted to bring together her love of music and passion for helping animals. Her dream came true two years ago, when she was asked to perform at the Sydney Animal Rights March.
Sophie and Kai have performed at both marches and recently started busking on the street. While the duo busk, passers-by stop, watch slaughterhouse footage on a laptop and are encouraged to learn more about the animal holocaust.
Starting her activism journey seven years ago, Sophie took a deep dive into all forms of activism; beginning with Cube of Truth, chalking, stickering, vigils and protests. Her long term plan was to get involved in direct action, rescues and investigation work.
Wanting to make her investigation work more personal and relatable, Sophie recently made the brave decision to start showing her face during actions. This has helped people connect with what they are seeing and her most recent video at a piggery has been seen by 180,000 people so far.
In this episode, Sophie discusses using your skills to help animals, inspirational women in her life and managing burnout.
