This week, we are on the second part of our series "Overcoming Secret Sin." Even if you are not in secret sin, I encourage you to listen in to this episode, because this wisdom could help you be a light in someone’s else’s life who is dealing with secret sin as you are able to point them in the right direction toward freedom.
In last week’s episode, we talked about what secret sin is, how to make sure we don’t find ourselves in a place where we’re hiding secret sins. Then, lastly, we started talking about 2 of the 6 ways to overcome secret sins and make sure that we never go back there again.
I recently read a statistic…and ladies, this statistic was actually from 2012…nine years ago. But this statistic says that 70% of teens hide their online activitiy from their parents. If this was in 2012, I know…especially with all of the technology we have today, it’s probably more today than it was then.
Something that I often tell teens is…even if you honestly aren’t doing something wrong—like maybe reading a Christian book or playing a wholesome video game, if you feel you need to hide something from your parents, it’s in that moment of hiding that you are stepping into sin.
Proverbs 28:13 tells us that if we hide our sins, we will not succeed…they will be found out. However, if we confess them and reject them, we may get in trouble, but we will have mercy.
If you find that you’re in a place where you know that you are hiding secret sins and you feel so guilty or ashamed about it. There is hope for you. There is healing for you. There is freedom for you. Even if you’re pretty sure that those secret sins have turned into secret addictions. With God, that yoke of secret sin can be destroyed.
John 8:31-32-Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. 32 And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
