Welcome to the Black History Month edition of the Drs. Washington Podcast where we highlight African Americans, who have made significant contributions to the field of medicine. This episode features the life and achievements of Dr. Robert Smith who is known as a pioneer in family and community medicine. He is credited as the creator of community health centers (now called federally qualified health centers). These centers benefit the medically underserved and have led to improvements in healthcare access by servicing more than 30 million Americans today.
