Welcome to the Black History Month edition of the Drs. Washington Podcast where we highlight African Americans who have made significant contributions to the field of medicine. This episode features the life and achievements of Dr. William Augustus Hinton who was the first African American appointed to full Clinical Professor at Harvard University in 1949, the first African American to author a medical textbook in the US in 1936, and  the creator of the Hinton diagnostic test for syphilis which was eventually endorsed by the U.S. Public Health Service in 1934.
