Do we have to run ourselves into the ground before we. take a break? Do we have to face burnout before we see that we need to do something different? Sometimes that is what it takes to redirect and sometimes we can look for what we need before nature forces us to try something different. I want the mental health field to be secure in supporting mental health professionals to model what it looks like to give back to self and to prioritize self. Is there room to start practicing new paradigm? Where is the freedom and flexibility for family and spirituality and fun and work-life balance and fun and general well-being? Deep levels of healing come with leading by example. When we model what we want to see for our children, it's no different than what we need to see being modeled to us through the lens of the mental health profession. I know that we could do better, and I want to continue to be an active member of creating change for this. I want to be a licensed professional counselor as fast as I can and the irony becomes checking in with myself with how much I am able to take care of myself fully and presently in the process. It becomes a stretch! Sometimes our systems are not completely set up with humanness or well-being in mind. Now that we know that we can go beyond survival and safety, we get to redefine what this looks like to our own personal process through emotions. The body keeps the score! We can release the past generations of trauma in order to heal our own and pave the way for our future. http://www.magicmomentsplay.com
