Developmental Stages are MOST important to understand when we are learning to speak our child’s language. If their language is PLAY, their development is a TOOL that we get to use to understand them better based on where they fall in chronological age and developmental age. How do we help to support children to feel like integral members of the family when each family member subconsciously thinks of themselves as either fitting in or standing out? As kids, feeling too different to fit in but still wanting to connect and receive love and acceptance is a stressful place to feel split. It can feel scary to feel different and could even lead to maladaptive coping strategies. How can we embrace our children through their differences without expecting them to change but rather support them unconditionally in their decision making despite the choices they make? If we don’t feel valued in the aspects of our life that we are contributing to, we reject these places in order to find our place where we do. It’s rare for anyone to feel highly valued in all environments that they are involved with. Some environments might bring out more discomfort than others and you may only feel somewhat valued. When I think about kids, they may go from home to school to social groups. It is very normal to have one of these circles be a circle where you might not feel highly valued… AND THAT IS NORMAL, OKAY & TO BE EXPECTED… http://www.magicmomentsplay.com
