Is hard work enough to achieve success in life?
Vanessa Lech, a licensed clinical social worker and writer joins me to discuss the myth and fallacy of hard work always leading to success in life.
Despite her efforts and credentials, Vanessa admits it has not led to financial freedom for her.
For women and people of color hard work rarely leads to the kind of success we associate with making it. Obstacles such as poverty, racism, underfunded schools create barriers that can seem impossible to overcome.
Women for example have to work twice as hard as men to have a chance at climbing the proverbial ladder of success yet continue to make less than men on average across industries.
Vanessa addresses these disparities and talks about ways we can move forward.
