Alex Cohen has dedicated his life to the pursuits of extreme music and extreme independence in drumming. I became aware of him in his previous project Pyrrhon and I was immediately taken by his ability to play very technical sections followed by spurts of improvisation within the context of heavy music. Between the absurdly complex independence exercises he posts on his Facebook page and what I know of him as both a player and someone who has personally taught me drum lessons I knew he was a prime candidate for this podcast. We cover his incredible ability to deal with Asbuger's syndrome, how said syndrome has potentially been a positive force in his pursuits, plus his early education/influences, and of course pursuing extreme drumming at all costs.
