Description

It’s uncomfortable to let go of our old ways of thinking and believing.

Watching my snake Timmy handle a bad shed made me think a lot about how it works when we shed anything from our lives. Sometimes it’s easy, and other times it’s challenging.

When pieces of what we need to let go of hold on longer than we wanted we might even have to wait for the next time we evolve and grow to fully release the stuck remnants of our last version of ourselves.

What do you do when you’re stuck under something that no longer serves you and you’re ready to move beyond that belief, but you can’t see beyond where you’re at yet? Sometimes taking baby steps every day consistently can help you to add a new idea into your life. You may have to add new ideas before they have meaning for you, because you’re just trying to make a home for that new idea in your life, even if you can’t sift it out yet or know where that might be.

It’s ok if you need help to shed old beliefs, just the same as sometimes Timmy needs a helping hand to get an eye cover off that was stuck.

Recognize that growth is uncomfortable, and when we are growing it’s when we feel our most vulnerable. It’s OK to not feel amazing as you grow, it’s part of being human. Accepting ourselves in these difficult moments makes the whole experience better.
