Do you struggle with mental health? Do you find that your mental health takes a toll on you throughout the school year? Today, I decided to talk about my mental health journey and the ways I’ve learned to cope. I never experienced it until I went through turmoil in my own family and at the time, I was living at home so it really affected me.
I went through a time where I struggled to get out of bed, I completely distanced myself from everybody who loved me, and I was crying myself to sleep every single night. I didn’t know why this was affecting me and had no idea what these signs meant but I knew I needed help. So, I reached out to a friend, who happens to be a social worker, who then put me in touch with a therapist and from there I was able to manage my depressive states. We have been in a pandemic for 8 months and at the beginning of the pandemic, a lot of feelings were brought out. My anxiety and depression came about in full swing. We had a stay at home order, I was not in my regular routine, I wasn’t going to work every day and I couldn’t handle the uncertainty that was happening around me. I had to find a way to manage the anxiety and make sure that as much as I was struggling, I was able to also show up for my students and for myself and for this business I’m building.
