Description

Worship is an invitation to a relationship with an entity that's higher and more perfect than ourselves. This week's sermon from The Road Out series is on the concept of worship, drawing from the story of the Israelites who traded their lives of slavery to worship God. But, like many of us, they sometimes lost their way, worshipping the wrong things, and we see how God continually called them back into His loving embrace.

Through the stubbornness of Pharaoh, who repeatedly refused to release the Israelites, we learn that it's futile to negotiate with God. We explore the profound effect of the plagues on Egypt's economy and the lasting imprint on the Israelites' collective memory of their time in slavery. This exploration of the Bible, written jointly by God and human beings, provides unique insights into God's justice.

Ever thought about the intricacies of the human heart? Let's grapple with that complexity together and ponder whether it's arrogant to believe we can understand everything about God's workings. We discuss how God might have hardened Pharaoh's heart only after Pharaoh himself had done so and reflect on this terrifying scenario. As we conclude, we hope to leave you with a sense of faith's power to overcome any challenge and the comforting assurance of Jesus's unwavering love for us, no matter how daunting our circumstances may be.
