Description

In episode #29, I have an in-depth Q & A with a former Div. I basketball coach concerning the minimum eligibility requirements and standardized tests that incoming freshman need to have in order to meet initial eligibility standards to play Div. I and Div. II sports. We discuss the history of these tests as well as the NCAA's role is creating the eligibility requirements. The role in which the NCAA has changed the requirements over the decades when it comes to attempting to minimize minority athlete participation. We cover how minorities have been able to overcome each and every academic obstacle the NCAA has placed in front of minorities over the decades, yet white athletes haven't had to endure the same restrictions during the same time frame.
In the end, my guest offers his advice to all high school athletes who want to play at the Div. I and Div. II level when it comes to academics and the SAT/ACT. I also offer my three 'Takeaways' to try to help athletes and the NCAA solve this is issue.
