Hair in Recovery ~ haircare after cancer treatment
Lauren Gilmore started her career as a hairdresser, and after having a client diagnosed with cancer, she began to look into learning more about how to support and cater to clients facing medical hair loss.
She realised that she needed to build on the knowledge and tools she had in order to work with people recovering from cancer and having treatment.
She completed the raccoon hair in recovery course, and went on to the cancer haircare charity course, discovering the emotion of hair loss, and how clients feel after hair replacement services.
We also talk about how trichology plays a role in understanding more about how the hair and scalp works and how to look after it in times of poor health.
The Cancer Haircare Chairty have a vision of world where all cancer patients can locate a hairdresser or hair loss professional who is competent, compassionate and confident to deliver thoughtful services throughout the duration of their cancer related hair loss journey.
