THOMASVILLE — The A.L. Martin Historical Museum in Thomasville on Aug. 23 celebrated the opening of the Tuskegee Airmen photography exhibition and the rededication of the original A. L. Martin High School cornerstone. The event was held in conjunction with a homecoming celebration for Martin High, which closed in 1970 after integration. The Tuskegee Airmen were the first African-American military aviators in the U.S. Army Air Corps, and trained at the Tuskegee Army Airfield in Alabama during World War II. A.L.
