What comes to mind when you think of REST? How do you REST?

Shandel talks about how pertinent rest is for all of us who burn the candle at both ends and it seems we never let up. Since we are so diligent and we run successful businesses we may feel we don't have the luxury of slowing down to rest because we're so sure we should or if the payoff is worth while.

The investment in taking some time to RESTwill reaps rewards and you'll get even more done and have a greater degree of enjoyment doing it. I love the picture of what Stephen Covey calls Sharpening the Saw which means “having a balanced program for self-renewal in the four areas of your life: physical, social/emotional, mental, and spiritual.” He warns that “without this renewal, the body becomes weak, the mind mechanical, the emotions raw, the spirit insensitive, and the person selfish. Not a pretty picture, is it?”

In 2004, Patrick Lencioni wrote an article on adrenaline addicts, he stated, “Unlike other addicts whose behaviors are socially frowned-upon, adrenaline addicts are often praised for their frantic activity, even promoted for it during their careers.” That is the problem, we are consistently reinforced for this and it keeps us on our personalized hamster wheel.

We hope you enjoy this episode and find you want to establish an intentional habit of RESTING!
