From inside the fish Jonah prayed to the Lord his God. He said: “In my distress I called to the Lord, and he answered me. From deep in the realm of the dead I called for help, and you listened to my cry. Jonah 2:1,2
One of the most interesting places for a prayer to take place comes to us from the Book of Jonah. In Jonah 2, Jonah offers a prayer from the belly of a whale. It is probably one of the most raw and authentic prayers in Scripture. In it we can learn several things; whether we are in a place where we are "in the belly of a whale," we are dealing with guilt from what we have done, or we know someone who needs to cry out in the midst of their own "whale situation." Once again, here is a prayer we can draw something from and apply to our own lives.
