And I [Nehemiah] looked and arose and said to the nobles and to the officials and to the rest of the people, “Do not be afraid of them.  Remember the Lord, who is great and awesome, and fight for your brothers, your sons, your daughters, your wives, and your homes.” (Nehemiah 4:14)

I have come to LOVE the story of Nehemiah.  Going through it in my yearly Bible reading this year, I was impressed upon a few things.  One, Nehemiah's boldness to ask the king to send him to Jerusalem to take on this project.  Two, his ability to stand when enemies came against him to keep the wall from going up.  And finally, God's victory in the whole thing:  the wall gets built, the people come and rededicate themselves to the Lord and the enemies of Israel are afraid.  All God!  All a story of His faithfulness.

What about us?  We can get discouraged in life, especially when we know God has called us to do something but the path hasn't been clear.  Maybe the ask seems too big.  Maybe the enemies look too powerful.  But has God's call been rescinded?  No.  He still has a plan and urges us to trust Him and obey.  With Nehemiah as a backdrop, today's episode urges us to "keep building the wall!"
